The International Gold Panda Awards for Documentary are a feature of the 2009 Sichuan TV Festival (SCTVF) which will run from 6th to 8th November 2009, in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

The documentary awards are dedicated to recognizing the best international documentaries on Society, Anthropology and Nature & Environment. This valuable platform for Chinese and international documentary allows professionals to exchange ideas on the latest information, concepts, techniques and filming experiences.

The competition is divided into three categories: Anthropology, Society, Nature and Environment.

In 2007, 713 entries from 38 countries and regions competed for the awards, with 242 in the Anthropology category, 338 in the Society category, and 133 entries for Nature & Environment. An international judging panel gave awards to 37 works from 16 separate countries and regions.

The Sichuan TV Festival has become one of the most reputable TV festivals and one of the most effective platforms to access current TV and film marketing information in China and Asia.

In 2009 the Festival will throw a special focus onto Australia. The festival is planning to host an “Australia Day” which will include preferential packages, seminars and exhibition screenings tailor-made for Australians. Watch this space!
