isaac julien confirmed as
festival speaker
The festival is proud to have just confirmed Isaac Julien as a speaker at the Double Helix: Art & Moving Image Symposium (27 Feb - 1 Mar). Julien came to prominence in the film world with his 1989 drama-documentary Looking for Langston, gaining a cult following with this poetic exploration of Langston Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance. This following was expanded in 1991 when his film Young Soul Rebels won the Semaine de la Critique prize for best film at the Cannes Film Festival. RHYTHMUS '09 GIVEAWAY

Presented by Recitals Australia in association with the 2009 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival, Rhythmus '09 is curated by festival Associate Director Adele Hahn. This program combines silent avant-garde films by artists with live accompaniment performed on grand piano by pianist-composer Stephen Whittington.
